Some thoughts about my book challenge

I am now closing the second week of my challenge with The Hobbit and am already seeing some changes in my daily routine.

I usually wake up at 7.20, have something for breakfast and then ride on my bike to the office. At around 17.00 I start my ride back and when I arrive at home I go into the basement to work out a little bit (At the moment I am playing around with Insanity:The Asylum 2 which is pretty nice, but that’s for another day). After that I have a shower, something to eat and watch TV or hang on the computer or do something with my girlfriend or friends.

Now, with no free time to “waste”, I get up around 7.00 and read a few pages on my phone (I am using Bookviser, a nice Windows Phone app, to read the epub version of the book) before I get up and have a bite or two. I take the book now with me and when I get frustrated with the progress I have while fixing bugs, or just want to relax for 10-15 minutes, I just read a few pages. Yesterday I went to a mall near my house to have dinner and carried the book with me (multitasking ftw). When at home I spend most of the time reading but I still have time to do other things.

This week has been really busy. I went to the cinema to watch Jack Reacher (pretty good action movie with a little bit of comedy in it, Tom Cruise did a good job again), I also had to go to the main gym of my club to take care of some paperwork (being the club’s vice president bring some responsibilities), there were other things as well which all kept me away from the book. But still I am able to keep a steady pace. I am not sure if it’s just because of the book, which is really great, or something else, but I am really pleased with how things are progressing!

So far this challenge helped me pretty good to value every minute of my free time. There will be more things I guess through the year which will come along the way. Let’s see where the journey takes me.

Until then, don’t forget to be awesome :D
