Book challenge, week 2

Week two of my book challenge!

This week as I said in a post before I was reading J.R.R Tolkin’s The Hobbit. It’s about a peacful little hobbit called Bilbo Baggins who loves to spend his time in peace without worrying about adventures (like every other hobbit should do). But one day he got a visit from a wizard called Gandalf. He invited him to the adventure of his lifetime. Of course he refused and hoped to continue with his life but everything turned upside down. 13 dwarfs with Thorin as their leader want to go back to their homeland and restored the old kingdom which was taken away from them by a dragon called Smaug. Bilbo was chose as their burglar (because hobbits are awesome at sneaking around without being spotted). He refused again at first but the adventurer in him succeeded and he joined them on their journey over mountains as high as the sky, through forests dark as the night and through hostile territory guarded by Goblins and other enemies. If you haven’t read the book I won’t spoil you the story with more

I liked the book because it described great friendship and the ability of a single individual to perform beyond his or her expectation. Bilbo grew as a person (or burglar) throughout the journey and became a key player in the adventure. I also liked the fact that the book was written with a lot of details so that you can dive really into it and let your imagination create a new world around you.

I’ll give this book a 9/10 because it was a nice reading. I took the book everywhere with me and read it as much as I could because I had to know what was going to happen next.

There is only one thing I didn’t like. If you don’t want to know then just skip till the last paragraph. I didn’t like the fact that every time they were near death something happened and they were saved by a greater power. I head a feeling like there was a lot of luck involved along the way without them having to invest a lot of skill to get out of some bad situations.

The next book I’ll focus on is  Jo Nesbø’s book Phantom. I still don’t know how to pronounce his name but he seems to be a very good writer with a lot of bestsellers. I’ll find out until next Sunday.

Till that, don’t forget to be awesome
