Book challenge, week 8

Last week I read my first book from Stephen King, Duma Key and it blew me away!

It’s a story about a Edgar Freemantle, a successful man who is in the constructions business. His life turned upside down after an accident which left him without his right arm, some parts of his memory but gave him uncontrollable aggression. His psychologist advised him to move away for some time and find something new in his life what will fulfill him so that he can get his life back on track.

Edgar chose to move south. He moved to Florida and settled (for a year) on an island called Duma Key, where he discovered painting as something he finds his inner peace. When not painting he was either sleeping or walking along the beach (every day a little further was the plan). On one of his walks he met Jerome Wireman, a middle aged man who was taking care of Elizabeth Eastlake. She was suffering from the Alzheimer disease which was improving steady.

They became friends, they spend a lot of time together and felt like they share some kind of history, like it was meant for them to come together. As it turns out it was. Edgar’s painting got attention from many places but especially from one which will haunt him throughout the book.

This was my first horror book, and my first Stephen King book as well and I really see why people like his style of writing. The 575 pages have been turned in a rapid speed and I really recommend everyone to read the whole story and see what happened to the people of Duma Key.

10/10 is the final score here and I am sure new books of S. King will soon follow.

Until then, don’t forget to be awesome
