A few busy weeks and I am already behind my review schedule. But this will change in a bit
The 33rd book this year was a great John Grisham book called Racketeer.
Everything started with the death of judge Raymond Fogletree. A judge responsible for a controversial verdict some time ago. The FBI has no clue about who might be behind the murder so they follow every trail they find. After weeks of no progress the public as well as the big shots from Washington become nervous.
At this time Malcolm Bannister, a small town lawyer who is doing his time in a low security prison, informs the feds that he knows who the murderer is. He won’t give them the info to easy. He wants to be released from prison, get the $150,000 reward, a new identity and everything that goes with it.
The feds agree and get their suspect knowing that this is the only thing they have. Now the fun part begins as Malcolm starts to play his game which slowly drives the FBI nuts. The twists and turns start to take shape and a major coup unfolds until the end of the book which kept me turning pages like crazy
I give this book a 10/10 and I am looking forward for another J.G. book
The other book I read in this batch was No Easy Day by Mark Owen.
This is a million miles away from the last book. It’s a first hand account of a Navy SEAL who was part of the Neptune Spear mission which had only one target Osama bin Laden.
I am a huuuuuge SEAL fan and admire this guys for their mental and physical strength so buying this book was a no brainer once I saw it in my local bookstore.
The story begins with him trying to make it into DEVGRU an elite squad inside (the already elite) SEALs. He worked his way up with hard work and eventually ended up in a handpicked group which would take down the ultimate target (code name UBL).
The book was really awesome and I enjoyed every page of it despite Mark not talking much about tactics.
There isn’t much to say about the book but that it is a treat for everyone who likes this topic because it gives you a good feel of what it takes to be part of this elite group.
10/10 is the verdict here as well and I guess I have to read a few more books about this awesome people.
Until next time, try to make a difference
