The previous week was probably the last week this year of full training since my wife asked if I could step down from the throttle a little bit during the holidays. This means spending some more time at home especially in the morning and not rushing into hours of bike riding immediately after I wake up.
How can I say no :)
I have added a few more "brick" sessions (bike-run back to back) and I feel awesome. The last session was an 6.81 km run in 31.19 minutes which equates to a 4:32 min/km pace! I am absolutely thrilled with this since I have also found out about a small running league in my boss' hometown of Samobor. They are running a 7 km race where you need to make a sub 29 minute time to claim the 1st place. I am not sure if I will be able to do it but I know that I'll cross the finish line on all fours if I have to in order to crack this time :)
I will start (in fact I already started) to go a little slower again with only single trainings per day in order to go through the winter like a boss :D
I don't know if I mentioned my training plan but you can check it out here. I am starting again from zero (a.k.a six months out) and aim to get into peak condition right before the Ironman which is pretty much in 6 months form now (time is moving fast).
I'll include a lot more mountain climbs into my training since a good portion of the Ironman in Nice is going to take place in the mountains with long rides uphill.
Let's just have a quick look at the numbers before we say goodbye:
Distance | Time | Pace | |
---|---|---|---|
Swim | 5.0 km | 1:47:00 h | 21:24 min / km |
Bike | 71.48 km | 3:23:42 h | 2:55 min / km |
Run | 17.79 km | 1:25:48 h | 4:49 min / km |
Also the total numbers spent on each discipline:
Distance | Time | |
---|---|---|
Swim | 50.55 km | 18:56:00 h |
Bike | 688.33 km | 32:08:09 h |
Run | 194.89 km | 16:30:26 h |
I just realized I have spent more time in the water then in my running shoes. I don't know if it's good or bad but this will be interesting to watch in the future.
Until then, don't forget to be awesome :)
