Book challenge, week 4

Back to John Grisham!

This week’s book is about a father who killed two rednecks which raped, beat and almost killed his daughter. This wouldn’t be a real story if the father wasn’t black and the town in which everything happened wasn’t (really) segregated. John Grisham’s A time to kill tells us how a father takes justice into his own hands and later, while tried, depends on people who don’t think positive about blacks.

Jake Tyler Brigance a young lawyer takes the challenge to represent him and convince the jury that his client Carl Lee Hailey did nothing wrong. It is  a very controversial topic which is well pictured in the behaviour of the citizens of Clanton. I loved going through the book, kept turning pages and pages. There were a lot of fun moments like Jake and his friends getting drunk or some funny comments in court.

I was positively surprised with the amount of detail which John put into describing the scenes and i really felt like being in the middle of it. The closer you come to the end the more you are “desperate” to hear the final verdict of the jury which turned out to be …………. (No worries, I won’t spoil it to you )

I’ll give this book, again, a 10/10.

If you like legal thrillers this books is really something special. The next book I am already reading is another Grisham book. The last juror which also covers a murder and so far it’s pretty promising.

Until then, don’t forget to be awesome
