Last book in the “teen” weeks! By picking John Grisham’s The Summons I am definitely hoping to read all books of this great author.
It’s a story about two guys Ray and Forrest Atlee who got a mail sent to them by their father Judge Reuben V. Atlee to give him a visit so that they can discuss the will of the dying Judge.
After arriving there Ray finds that his father died in the living room. Following the initial shock came another, almost equally big one. He found over 3 million dollars. Put in cardboard boxes for which no explanation existed because everyone knew how the Judge gave a lot of his money to people who need it. Ray didn’t know what to do but he knew that he didn’t want to let his brother know about it because he was afraid that Forrest might hurt himself with his share because of his past as an addict who went to therapy many times.
After a while Ray got a mail from some unknown person warning him that he knows about the money. And the chase began! Ray tried to hide the money but it was taking it’s toll on him with every day that passed.
How everything ended is again something you have to find out for yourself
I like the book because it was familiar territory. We came back to Clanton a few times, we saw a few characters we already knew from other books (Patton French from King of Torts for example). It was a nice book I finished in about 4 days because I just kept turning the pages to find out what was going on.
Despite it not being a classic Grisham book I enjoyed reading it and give this book a 10/10.
This week I am reading The Fault in our Stars by John Green (Don’t-for-get-to-be-awesome-John-Green). And I am more then half way through so I will be finishing it quite soon.
Until then, try to make a difference
