Two more books down!
The first one was The Front by Patricia Cornwell.
We moved away from Kay Scarpetta and are now in the company of Win Garano. At first everything looked like he was investigating a 45-year old murder case which could lead to the famous Boston Strangler. As he started working on this he first thought that this was just an investigation which only purpose was to give his boss some attention which could boost his political career but everything turned to be different.
I enjoyed the book but everything was a bit to fast for me. I didn’t really feel the story building up and getting into details and all of a sudden it was already over. I give this book a 6/10 and hope that another of her books will get the flavour of the Scarpetta books I read first.
The second book is Forrest Gump by Winston Groom.
I don’t think I need to talk a lot about the story because there is a movie based on the novel which is my favourite movie (now thinking I guess I like pretty much every movie with Tom Hanks but that’s for another time).
It starts out with Forrest’s youth and him playing football in high school. Later his life took some sharp turns here and there because he went from playing football to war. After that he played in a band, became an astronaut, and almost got eaten by cannibals. But in the end he fulfilled his dream of catching shrimps for a living.
It’s a nice story with a lot of funny moments and I rally liked the reading the book and pretending that I am sitting with Forrest on a bench and he was telling me his life story.
I give this book an 8/10 and will try to find some more books from Groom.
Until next time happy reading
