Long time no see! Being busy is great but it has it’s downsides as well. You do a lot of great things but don’t have time for other stuff, like reading (or reviewing in this case).
I will do another batch review this week of two nice books.
The first book is The Suspect by Michael Robotham.
It’s a story about Joe O’Loughlin, a psychologist from London. He is living a normal life with a great job and a loving family. Everything turns upside down when he was diagnosed with Parkinson. He first kept it to himself which made him act strange and make his wife think he is having an affaire.
When he was asked to help in a murder case all evidence started to point to Joe. To save himself and not reveal his medical condition to his wife he starts plotting a story which will drag him deeper into trouble. If he will find an escape route is something you will have to find out
I give this book a 8/10 because it was really nice to read but something was (again) missing in the story. I like the plot and how the story builds and tells the real connection between Joe and the killed woman but it was all a bit to quick at the end but nevertheless I am sure I will read another book by the author
The second book is Unnatural Exposure by Patricia Cornwell.
When a body, a torso to be correct, was found on a dump everything was pointing to a series of murders which moved from Ireland to the United States. Key Scarpetta, an excellent medical examiner, doesn’t really believe this story and starts investigating in a whole new direction. After receiving some pictures of cut body parts and an virus outbreak on the island of Tangier things get really hot and everyone fears a new pandemic.
Key, who seems to be suffering from some kind of smallpox, put tries everything to find the maniac. She even used the internet to contact the person known as deaddoc to get some clues.
The book started really fast and you are already in the middle of the trouble from page 1. It then slowed down a bit as the main characters were trying to solve the puzzle. It was a really nice book and I really like the way Patricia builds the story.
I give this book an 8/10 only because the end was a bit flat and the fact that I hate her usage of so many fancy phrases which you can hear in the CSI series. To many IT terms are used just to make the situation more cool (at least that’s what I think) but all in all I like the book.
Until next time, keep a smile on your face
