Book challenge, week 11

Last week I read James Patterson’s latest (I think) book called Merry Christmas Alex Cross.

It’s the 19th novel in the Alex Cross series about an African American detective and psychologist who gets called out on Christmas eave to deal with a hostige situation. He was “taken away” from his family who was prepared to have a nice few days but unfortunately he is one of the best and needs to be where he is needed.

Despite the situation he is able to clear his head and think only about the task at hand and try to find a solution which will leave everyone go home safe. He was also involved in preventing a terrorist attack on the Union Station in Washington where one of his “old friends” might try to hurt a lot of people.

I like the way the book went on. It’s divided into many chapters which someone seem to me like a single cut in a movie. This makes to book really easy to read because you keep telling yourself: “Just one more chapter, just one more chapter” and all of a sudden you find yourself at the end of the book.

That being said, I don’t really like the ending of the book. It felt like there is a lot of chance involved in how everything ended. Almost like The Hobbit. Every time it gets rough some miracle comes up and saves them. It wasn’t really like that with Alex Cross but a little more skill in solving the end would be better.

All in all this book is a 8/10 for me.

Until next time, don’t forget to be awesome
